taskit GmbH - about us

taskit GmbH'' (founded in 1988 and registered in the commercial register on 12.12.1990) is a German manufacturer of industrial hardware, offering sensor technology in addition to various network devices and gateways. The company was founded by Thorsten Raulfs, who is still managing partner today. For more than 30 years, taskit GmbH has been developing, manufacturing and also distributing industrial hardware with about 20 employees.

Worldwide sales are a few thousand units, most of which have been explicitly developed or adapted for one customer. taskit GmbH brings everything under one roof, from the idea to the product. The idea is developed further with the customer, just as the first prototypes are manufactured on the company's own placement machine. Larger orders can also be realized in the in-house production.

In 2020, for example, the company developed the Corona Warn Beacon, which can be used to record the exact contact intensity and duration of pseudonymous contact in larger groups of people in order to be able to interrupt chains of infection at short notice in times of pandemic COVID-19.

History

Thorsten Raulfs invented the EPROP in 1990, which he used as the final project of his diploma thesis. This system was to be used as a universal EPROMmer for PCs. At that time this was not necessarily a gap in the market, but there were hardly any EPROMs that could burn capacities from 8 KBit up to 8 Mbit. Hardly any CPU offered such a large address space. As software became more and more power hungry and the hardware grew with it, the device found some buyers who could record the then large memories. The project was so popular that c't wrote an article about this hardware. The January 1990 issue was a full 12 pages and part 2 was in the February 1990 issue with 11 full pages. The project turned into a product and taskit Rechner GmbH was founded in Berlin-Köpenick. After IBM placed the first order, the foundation for a successful future was secured.

In the following years, gpio systems were developed and various embedded systems, which still make up the core of the company's turnover today. Various gateways for different fields of application and measurement technology for large chemical companies, such as Dow Chemicals and Olin, followed. From the existing systems, further developments were made for complete systems such as the Beacon Line brand, which enables local tracking with its products and can be seen as the largest intelligent Bluetooth antenna in the world. Furthermore, Measure2go was established as another brand, which incorporated the complete measurement technology products.

Product portfolio

The product range is geared towards business customers and includes more than 300 items from the areas of industrial PCs, installation technology, electronics and measurement technology, and gateways.

Core products are the embedded systems with the Stamp A5D36 and the DropA5D2 based on Linux. In the Measure2go measurement technology area, there are various options for quickly implementing large sensor networks. The Beacon Line is suitable for indoor navigation, indoor tracking, asset tracking, sensor acquisition, payment systems, ticketing systems and other BLE applications. New in the product portfolio are the gpio systems based on the Raspberry or Raspberry Compute Module 4 as well as without Raspberry, GPIO boards and modules that can be addressed via a REST API. Also new and matching the gpio systems, the gpio modules are a useful addition.
